Packing lists

Hmm, your packing list is a reflection of your character.  Of the three of us going, one is an obsessional, one is very laid back, and one just packs everything!  Could be the perfect combination!

Following the tradition of many travel blog writers, here is my packing list.   Only time will tell if I will return with half of the clothes never worn.

Clockwise from top left.
Folder with passport copies, insurance docs, itinerary, pencil/ pen.
Rough Guide to India (Well, half of it, I have cut out the unnecessary pages, and taped the spine with duct tape.
Michael Wood's amazing book on India.   Kindle.  mp3 player, earbuds. tiny bike torch, rechargeable. memory stick with portable apps on it because I hate Internet Explorer so much that I would rather carry around a small version of chrome with me.
Yvonne's iPad4 with logitech bluetooth keyboard.  Great travelling combination. (Thanks Anna and Greg for the idea.).
Various tablets. Malaria,  delhi belly (Immodium which I used once before and is miraculous if you have to travel),  rehydrations, etc.
A money belt to wear inside your clothes.
A combination lock and cable combined.
Toothbrush, paste, floss, soap, hand gel, and some washing detergent to get started with. Flannel.

In the centre:  Sunglasses, sleeping bag liner for mucky beds and against bed bugs.. Some camera gadgets. My camera is a Sony Cybershot RX100. I used to have a Nikon D90 and a couple of lenses, but too much to hump about. Now I use my RX100.  Amazing quality but not a huge zoom. I have a Gorillapod tripod, and two filters for the camera. a circular polarising one and a fixed ND filter. about 3 f stops. About 5x16gb SD Cards which is usually more than enough for a long holiday. I can always send some off to Dropbox if I need to).

The two white packets on the right are packing cubes, made from sailcloth by Yvonne. Basically square stuffsacks. One contains travel towels and the other socks! We have more travel cubes for shirts etc, just haven't put the clothes into them yet.  So now we are heading towards the clothes section.

5 pairs of socks, 3 underwear.  4 shirts, linen or cotton, two trousers (one as a spare), 2 pairs shoes.  The new sandals you see on the table and some old shoes that I have worn for the last three years.  2 tee shirts and some light pyjama shorts.

Black zip fleece and very thin raincoat. / sunhat/ India wall socket and converter, a couple of those bank security things without which you can't get security numbers for online banking.

Inflatable neck pillow in that stripey bag. Earplugs for noisy nights. Yellow piezo mosquito bite clicker. supposed to give relief. weighs nothing, so I might give it a go. Travel plug (may leave that behind) . Pump action Mossie spray.

a very, very lightweight day pack that folds into nothing almost.
a thin nylon bag to put the rucksack into for travel on planes. So it doesn't get opened and the straps get pulled off. A cable lock.

So far weighs under 10kg. That is my limit.   44 litre rucksack.

Still got the mosquito net to put in. It doesn't weigh much.
Will use a VPN (supplied by a friend) after reading FoxNomad's article on internet security when traveling. , which together with passwords etc will help to combat fraud. My Google Nexus 4  (almost as good as a laptop!)  (Also taking an old Nokia phone for an Indian Sim Card).
