We left Mount Abu this morning after a lovely day there . We visited the Guru Shikkar temple on top of the mountain at 6,000 ft and we rang the Hindu temple bell - beautiful clear day looking over towards Gujarat. Wandered around the town where we were almost the only foreigners - lots of Gujarati families and couples getting married and honeymooning there. We then went to the amazing Jain temples where the carving was a fine as lace. Then we visited Trevor's tank which was in a little nature reserve built by the Maharajah for the British Governor colonel who worked with him - It had a small reservoir and concrete lookout towers and some tourists said they had seen a crocodile there!. Then we got dropped off at Jaipur house on the top of the hill - house of old maharajah now a heritage hotel and had a drink in the garden overlooking the lake followed by a lovely lunch there. John came down with cold so had early night and set off for 5 hour trip to Jodhpur today which is an ancient town and we are in the old blue painted city in a 250 year old hotel called Gouri Heritage Haveli at the foot of the huge Merengarrh fort. We are currently eating in the rooftop restaurant looking at the fort and tomorrow we go to Jaisalmer on the edge of the Thar desert for 2 nights. Fascinating places.

very good updates and pics. lovely places and the hotels look plush and exotic. Hope John feels better soon xxxx
Hi. Moira is probably the healthiest of us all and particularly likes the shabby chic ness of this place! Not sure how old it is but it has a central courtyard with pot plants, , roof garden etc. in middle of old city. Mosque next door and call to prayer at regular intervals. Feels like Turkey!
